Zoom Horny Toad

The Zoom Horny Toad is not just your typical soft plastic lure. This topwater soft plastic lure has several features that make it unique. Most notably are its blade shaped legs that buzz across the top of the water when it is retrieved. The belly on this beast is also slotted. This allows for an easy Texas rig setup that provides the hook to push through easily providing for more positive hooks when a fish strikes.

The Zoom Horny Toad is a perfect topwater lure and lends itself nicely to a Texas rigging. When rigged in this way, it allows you to fish it right among weeds and other vegetation without getting hung up. Use a moderate retrieve to "activate" its buzz like leg action that churns the water surface attracting fish in the area. If topwater action isn't working out for you, this soft plastic can also be rigged as a jig trailer. Rig it about 6 inches behind a jig and when it is retrieve, the legs will create a subsurface vibration to attract fish. The more you think of ways to rig this soft plastic lure, the more you realize how versatile the Zoom Horny Toad really is!

When using this soft plastic lure, you can modify it by making a small cut about a quarter of an inch long between the legs. Then skin hook your hook to the inside of the incision. This will "lengthen" the legs and create an even bigger churning action that will surely attract nearby bass!

This is an ideal lure when fishing for bass as a topwater lure. But, when rigged in other ways (like the jig trailer mentioned above) it can be used to catch many other fish that you'd also fish with a jig.
